Marco Polo 1. – Az ember, aki nem félt nagyot álmodni
Nagy alakú, keményfedeles, színes kiadvány, prémium minőségben.
A képregény bemutatja a velencei Marco Polo kalandos utazását Kubiláj kán birodalmának fővárosába.
A képregény szerzője sokáig maga is a kételkedők táborához tartozott, megkérdőjelezte a felfedező utazásának valóságalapját, ma mégis úgy gondolja, Polo megérdemli helyét a világ nagy felfedezői között.

Marco Polo, Volume 1: The Man Who Dared to Dream Big
A large-format, full-colour hardcover edition in premium quality.
This comic book presents the Venetian Marco Polo’s adventurous journey to the capital of Kublai Khan’s empire. He is regarded as the greatest traveller of all time. His significance lies in being among the first to give a detailed and vivid account of his travels.
Over the centuries, one lesson has been confirmed time and again: the travellers remembered by later generations are those who are also great storytellers. Yet this has a drawback. His story was too extraordinary and full of twists to seem believable. It resembled a splendid adventure novel more than a reliable travel account. Could the famous Polo have been merely a gifted storyteller, imaginatively inventing a journey that never took place?
This debate is still far from over. Experts, historians and travellers confront one another on the scholarly battlefield, drawing on archival documents and geographical reality to determine whether Polo really made his journey. One group presents evidence that he lied, while others argue that he was recounting his own experiences.
For a long time, the comic book’s author was among the sceptics, questioning whether the explorer’s journey had truly happened. Today, however, he believes that Polo deserves his place among the world’s great explorers. Extraordinary events are not uncommon in the history of exploration. The teenage Marco Polo left Venice as a merchant, but his powers of observation and curiosity made him an explorer. And what if he never made the journey? Ultimately, that may not matter. His account inspired dozens of expeditions. Even today, travellers often set out “in Polo’s footsteps”. This reminds us that exploration often begins with an imaginary world we create for ourselves, and our desire to reach it.
